SUMMARY

MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience is a global project designed to strengthen quality maternal, newborn, and child health, voluntary family planning, and reproductive health (MNCH/FP/RH) care and service delivery in fragile settings.

While considerable progress has been made in reducing maternal and child mortality globally, achievements have been uneven and much of the remaining preventable maternal and child deaths are now concentrated in fragile settings. MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), focuses on reducing maternal and child mortality and morbidity by increasing health resilience of families, communities, and nation-states.

MIHR's approach will:

  • Strengthen the capacity and resilience of both the health and community systems in partner countries to enable them to plan and implement health strategies that reach under-served populations and address the underlying determinants of poor health and fragility.
  • Ensure ongoing learning, collaboration, and adaptive management by reinforcing evidence-based decision-making that will provide ongoing identification of innovations to strengthen health systems in fragile settings.
  • Collaborate with other multi-sectoral partners to build resilience and ensure measurement, dissemination, and use of evidence-based practices.

JSI joins a team led by IMA World Health that also includes Pathfinder International, GOAL USA Fund, Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere (CARE), the Africa Christian Health Associations Platform (ACHAP), Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Harvard School of Public Health, Premise Data, and Brigham Young University.

MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience is part of USAID’s MOMENTUM suite of awards, designed to facilitate countries' reduction in maternal and child mortality and morbidity by increasing health resilience of families, communities, and nation-states and help ensure that investments in USAID countries (which span humanitarian to development programming) are tailored to country contexts and foster sustainability.
