August 18th, 2020 | news
JSI Senior Immunization Advisor Folake Olayinka has written a new opinion piece for the Inter Press Service on the urgency of effective leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Long before 2020, global health experts and politicians around the world knew that a large infectious disease outbreak had potential to disrupt health systems and life around the world. Yet, as Folake notes, we were unprepared. She also advances the effectiveness of empathetic leadership in the face of the human tragedy caused by COVID-19.
Reflecting on the last few months, Folake identifies five critical things that leaders need to do to overcome the pandemic and offers lessons from current policies to respond to the coronavirus. “With the right leadership at all levels, we can have a better and more resilient post-pandemic world.”
We strive to build lasting relationships to produce better health outcomes for all.
