The Way Forward: Coordinating Waste Management Efforts in Niger

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, many countries focused on securing high-quality vaccines and personal protective equipment, and were far less concerned about managing health care waste. This was especially challenging given the rapid increase in waste due to the estimated 12.8 billion immunization doses administered during the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, on top of the 16 billion doses of other vaccines administered worldwide yearly.
