The Pakistan Health Knowledge Hub (PHKH), described by ARY News as the country’s “first ever health information portal,” was launched on July 10th by Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation, and Coordination. Developed with technical assistance from JSI, the PHKH makes government documents and other health resources available to service providers nationwide.

Earlier this year, the Ministry, in partnership with JSI, established a knowledge management unit with the goal of building an online information hub. JSI consultants worked closely with government stakeholders and development partners to collect relevant documents, design the portal, and provide training on PHKH use.

High-ranking federal and provincial health officials, along with representatives from USAID, UNICEF, the World Bank, and other international donors and partners, attended the PHKH launch ceremony on July 10th in Islamabad. ARY News reported that Dr. Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health, underscored the portal’s potential for far-reaching impact: “Pakistan Health Knowledge Hub is an open-access resource and will function as a technical resource for government officials, academics, researchers, policy developers and decision makers besides all members of the general public.”
