Adolescents—not entirely children and yet not quite independent adults—face a special set of health issues best addressed through proven programs that involve them in the solution. JSI works in partnership with public health agencies, community-based organizations, and private clinics to meet the needs of this population with effective, culturally relevant strategies. We provide capacity-building assistance and serve as evaluators, program development specialists, and facilitators to improve teen access to health care and reproductive health services along with preventing alcohol, drug, and tobacco use.
Our services include:
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Quality improvement
- Program implementation
- Training and technical assistance
- Curriculum development
- Strategic planning
- Service delivery improvements
Our work is grounded in the Positive Youth Development principles outlined by the Interagency Working Group on Youth Programs, a collaboration of 21 federal departments and agencies that support youth. This is a comprehensive approach to meeting youth health challenges by engaging them as partners in the solution.
Adolescent Reproductive Health
When it comes to preventing teen pregnancy and improving the health of adolescents, we take a “system strengthening” approach. This involves integrating sectors and involving young people in developing solutions. We work closely with community providers and leverage our knowledge of organizational development, community engagement, and delivery systems. We provide training and technical assistance to grantees in the Title X Family Planning Program and Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program to support high-quality services and program through the Reproductive Health National Training Center.
