In partnership with the Wyoming Department of Health, JSI will conduct analysis and designation of Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA), Medically Underserved Area (MUA), and Medically Underserved Population (MUP) for the Agency. The project leverages, and builds upon, the decades of directly relevant experience JSI has in the area of primary care access analysis, program development overall, and in the federal shortage/underservice designation process and related program dependencies.
During this time of historic changes taking place in the landscape of health care access for traditionally underserved populations and redefining of the expectations, systems, and policies for identifying and submitting HPSA and MUA/P applications, it is necessary to develop state level systems capable of reflecting these rapid changes in a comprehensive and integrated manner that permits ongoing updates and re-evaluation of conditions in all communities.
