SUMMARY

In recognition of the enormous unmet need for MAT with buprenorphine and naltrexone, Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital (BH) and Signature Medical Group (SMG) launched one of the few MAT Programs providing these medications in the geographic catchment area *GCA). This three-year office-based addiction treatment (OBAT) project is a Medication Assisted Treatment Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction (MAT PDOA ) grant funded by SAMHSA.

In 2016, the opioid-related mortality rate for the Brockton GCA was 41.5 deaths per 100,000 population, compared to 28.7 for the state of Massachusetts. The Brockton GCA is one of the most underserved areas in the state when it comes to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD). Although 6.5% of Massachusetts’ opioid overdose deaths take place in the Brockton area, there are only 38 DATA-2000 waivered (MAT) providers in the GCA, representing 2.7% of the 1,410 waivered providers in the state.

JSI provided evaluation services that included: evaluation project management; development of evaluation plan and data collection tools; training and support for OBAT staff administration of GPRA sruveys and use of SPARS data portal; preparation of quarterly data summary reports for tracking performance targets; and the preparation of outcome data summary for annual reports submitted to SAMHSA indicating progress toward attaining goals and objectives.
