Our Commitment: A World without Malaria

One of the oldest diseases, malaria continues to impede the health and wellbeing of children, families, and communities. JSI supports malaria prevention and control programs globally, providing expertise on intervention design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation to accelerate government efforts to reduce malaria morbidity and mortality. Our experts create malaria management information systems, support new malaria vaccine introduction, streamline supply chains to ensure availability of key malaria commodities, and use behavioral insights to support comprehensive malaria prevention and control programs that meaningfully involve the communities being served in design, implementation, and evaluation.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AREAS

Delivering high-impact malaria prevention and treatment approaches across communities and health facilities:
  • Procuring and distributing long-lasting insecticide-treated nets for vector control.
  • Strengthening health worker capacity in malaria case management, including integrated community case management (iCCM).
  • Promoting intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in pregnancy (IPTp) through social behavior change and stronger antenatal care service delivery.
  • Increasing access to quality-assured malaria diagnostic and treatment commodities at public and private facilities.
  • Applying behavioral science interventions to promote delivery and uptake of key malaria interventions, such as IPTpand long-lasting insecticide-treated nets use.
Partnering with countries to strengthen national systems for malaria prevention and control:
  • Deploying innovative approaches including digital tools to improve data reporting and use, and epidemic prevention, preparedness, and response.
  • Integrating malaria programs with broader infectious disease surveillance and response efforts and in maternal and child, community, and primary health care settings.
  • Creating an enabling environment for malaria vaccine introduction (RTS,S), roll out, uptake, and acceptance.
  • Advocating for new health commodity and medicine policies to develop, improve, and harmonize evidence-based malaria prevention and control interventions, including appropriate care using intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in pregnancy.
