JSI’s former intern and Boston University alumna, Alex Gitungano, was recently featured as one of Boston University’s “People Who Defined the Campaign for BU.”

Alex first arrived in the U.S. in 2014, leaving war-torn Burundi to bring a 9-year-old child, Leo, who needed life-saving medical treatment at Boston’s Shriners Hospitals for Children, after suffering extreme facial burns at age two. Alex graduated this past May Boston University’s School of Public Health with his master’s in public health, with a focus on program management and global health.
