Making people-centered change happen
Social, behavioral, and system-level approaches are at the core of JSI’s mission to achieve better health outcomes for all. JSI’s people-centered approach, grounded in applied sciences, generates an iterative insight–action–change process across the levels of the socio-ecological model. We respond to real people’s challenges and support them to lead healthy lives by:
- Using participatory processes like human-centered design to gather insights and design, test, and implement solutions that work in context.
- Strengthening partners’ capacity to develop and implement evidence-based social and behavior change (SBC) programs and working to create environments in which those skills can be applied.
- Collaborating with clients and communities to design SBC communication strategies and campaigns that resonate with specific audiences.
- Strengthening systems for high-quality equitable services and resource optimization.
- Supporting, measuring, and sustaining change to understand the effect of our programs, including how they affect change pathways.
For over 20 years we have embedded SBC into our family planning and reproductive, maternal, and child health; nutrition; immunization; HIV; TB; malaria; behavioral health; and systems strengthening projects. We recently bolstered our SBC expertise with the acquisition of The Manoff Group, a long-time partner with more than 50 years’ experience in SBC innovation. JSI now has 90 change specialists and a history of SBC leadership in over 70 countries.
