JSI’s Dr. Henry Nagai, chief of party for the USAID Strengthening the Care Continuum Project, will serve as a delegate and panelist representing implementing partners in Ghana at the upcoming Controlling the HIV Epidemic Summit in Geneva on May 3-4, 2018.

The summit, which is hosted by the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care, brings together global delegates and partners, including the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, the Global Network of People Living with HIV, the Foundation for AIDS Research, and the Geneva University Hospitals. The summit is focused on sustaining HIV gains and building a path to the Sustainable Development Goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

Dr. Nagai will participate in the sub-Saharan Africa panel on “Sharing National and Sub-National Experiences” chaired by Paula Munderi.

Dr. Nagai, a public health physician and expert on health and development in developing countries, currently leads a team of HIV experts in Ghana as they implement USAID’s flagship HIV program for key populations in Ghana, the USAID Strengthening the Care Continuum Project. Now in its third implementation year, the project is designed to improve the capacity of the Government of Ghana and its partners to provide high-quality and comprehensive HIV services for key populations, including men who have sex with men, female sex workers, transgender individuals, and people living with HIV. Most recently, the project led the revision and publication of new national standard operating procedures and behavior change communication materials for key populations’ HIV care that have been ratified by the Ghanaian Government and other key partners.
