JSI is honored to welcome Dr. John Nkengasong as the next Ambassador-at-Large and Coordinator of the United States Government Activities to Combat HIV/AIDS Globally.
As the new U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Dr. Nkengasong will lead and supervise the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). He will also oversee the U.S. government’s multilateral engagements with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS Tuberculosis, and Malaria, and the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).
A critical PEPFAR partner since the program’s inception, JSI has implemented innovative strategies to support HIV epidemic control, including index testing, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), HIV self testing, and case management to link and support patients to antiretroviral therapy in Ghana, Uganda, Zambia, and around the world.
