On Monday, June 28, the Center for Strategic and International Studies Commission on Strengthening America’s Health Security hosted the second of its three-part discussion: Building Resilience: Implementing Primary Care and Immunization Programs in the Covid-19 Context.
The panel focused on primary health care services’ role in supporting routine immunizations and building resilience to global health threats such as COVID-19. Lora Shimp, JSI’s Immunization Center director, was one of the four experts on the discussion panel.
Over her 20-year career, Lora has worked in international development, with a particular focus on immunization. Her areas of expertise include immunization service delivery and equity, data quality and use, financing and planning, communications, community partnerships, new vaccine introduction, and disease-specific interventions.
JSI has supported sustainable community immunization programs for more than 40 years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our experience facilitating training for vaccine introduction, supply chain and storage planning, and communication has been an asset in the U.S. and in the more than 10 countries in which we are supporting COVID-19 vaccine rollout
