AIDSTAR Sector I Task Order 1 ("AIDSTAR-One") was USAID's global HIV & AIDS project that provided technical assistance services to the Office of HIV/AIDS and USG country teams in knowledge management, technical leadership, program sustainability, strategic planning, and program implementation support.
Led by John Snow Inc., and using our broad expertise in HIV programming, knowledge management, monitoring, evaluation, and research, AIDSTAR-One responded to emerging needs at the country level with on-demand technical assistance, program implementation support, technical leadership, program sustainability, and strategic planning.
JSI provided short- and long-term technical assistance to build effective, well-managed, and sustainable programs and to promote country-driven leadership in the global campaign against HIV. To maximize investments and encourage innovation, JSI documented and shared promising practices and connected PEPFAR technical working groups, USG Country Teams, national governments, and implementers through integrated online and in-person information exchanges.
AIDSTAR-One’s technical experts synthesized and disseminated scientific research and models of successful program implementation in all areas of HIV, including prevention, treatment, PMTCT, HIV testing and counseling, orphans and vulnerable children, care and support, gender, and integration of HIV with other health programs. Through targeted technical assistance and knowledge management, AIDSTAR-One supported country teams with the latest HIV guidance and innovation.
