SUMMARY

Behavioral Health Homes (BHH) are still a relatively new model of coordinated care for persons living with severe mental illness (SMI). The Opportunity Alliance (TOA) has been a leader in developing the model in Maine focused on building the infrastructure for integrating physical and behavioral health. Given the importance of the shift to this model of care, in Maine and nationally, a rigorous evaluation of the effects of peer services and the way in which these services are delivered within a BHH is warranted. The primary objective of the evaluation will be to position the integrated peer services for the high-risk Medicaid population for sustainability and spread throughout the state of Maine.
