Work with the Country Programmes Team in strengthening the delivery of immunization programs and services in India. As a result of the rapid changes in the routine immunization program and the impacts of COVID-19, traditional classroom training approaches are unable to meet the real-time learning needs of the health workers necessary to maintain and improve the delivery of immunization services. In 2019 JSI, the service provider, supported the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India to pilot a blended training approach using the digital platform called Rapid Immunization Skill Enhancement (RISE) in five districts of five states for improving the knowledge and skills of health workers with promising results.
The results from the pilot districts indicated strong overall completion rates with a 100% completion rate in two states and 96% in one state. The state governments had buy-in of the RISE training, particularly the way it worked during the COVID-19 pandemic, and, requested the Government of India to expand this blended training method in other districts of the states. The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has also appreciated RISE on different platforms and recommended phase-approach scaleup of the RISE model for capacity building of frontline immunization workers in the country. To address gaps in the learning needs of the immunization workforce in the country, the service provider will support the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India in scaling up RISE (planning, implementing, and monitoring), to 248 new districts across 7 states to cover 110,000 learners (Vaccinators) during the agreement period (2023-2026 scale up.
The Service Provider will also document the learning from the program as part of Monitoring Learning and Evaluation (MEL): – Assess acceptance of the RISE training platform – Assess knowledge acquisition of health workers through RISE training – Assess skill acquisition of health workers through RISE training Goals, data sources, performance indicators, etc. Based on these learnings, the service provider will also suggest measures to improve and ensure the sustainability of RISE beyond the agreement period.
