SUMMARY

Under GAVI Alliance funding, JSI will support the Tanzania Country Programmes Team in technical assistance efforts In Tanzania, in the Investment Areas of 1) Service Delivery, 2) Supply Chain, and 3) Health Information Systems and Monitoring & Learning.

JSI will:

  1. Strengthen the Electronic Immunization System (EIS) through enhancement and optimization for efficient and effective vaccine data management.
  2. Develop VIMS Mobile App to enhance vaccine and related supplies delivery by fast trucking requests and receiving of consignments at the regional level. This will allow the RIVO to submit requests to IVD and receive the consignment through his/her phone or driver's phone at the point of delivery instantly).
  3. Strengthen data use through a quality improvement approach (IMPACT team approach) and build capacity of logistics unit to extract insights for efficient supply chain operations and management of vaccines (adopting stock management best practices) at the central level and sub-national level.
  4. Support effective vaccine temperature monitoring to all regions and the installation and monitoring of RTM devices in 6 remaining regions and Zanzibar.
  5. Engage Community Health Workers in identification and mapping of zero dose and under-vaccinated children through strengthening utilization of existing data from DHIS2 and EIS (VIMS and TImR) and determine appropriate community-based strategies to reduce the number of zero dose and defaulters to increase the percentage of fully vaccinated children.
  6. Simplify access to key performance feedback and forecasts with national and subnational decision makers (DMOs, RMOs, MOH PORALG, and Implementing partners) by leveraging existing electronic immunization systems, artificial intelligence, and commonly used digital platforms.
