SUMMARY

Using the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Breakthrough Series Model, JSI is working with Planned Parenthood affiliates to improve the quality of their contraceptive care and STD services. The goals of this project are to:

  • Build capacity of Planned Parenthood affiliates to implement and utilize quality measure reports in diverse EHR systems.
  • Increase quality improvement and quality scores at the health center and affiliate level.
  • Develop resources to utilize quality scores in interactions with payers and policymakers.

Learning collaboratives are an evidence-based strategy, rooted in adult learning theory, which focus on implementation strategies and leverage the collective knowledge that exists in a community of learners. Planned Parenthood affiliates will meet regularly to discuss implementation strategies around increasing access to all contraceptive methods, and increasing the proportion of female patients who have been screened for chlamydia in the prior year.
