SUMMARY

The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), selected JSI to conduct key informant interviews with state and local public health department adult immunization coordinators and/or program managers, and their immunization partners, to address immunization of uninsured adults. The interviews elicited information about the aims of their program, partners utilized, methods used to identify the target patient population, funding mechanisms employed for vaccine providers or provider organizations, and other important components of adult vaccination delivery.

From the information collected, JSI identified successful strategies and practices among the immunization programs to improve access to immunization services for uninsured adults. Project results were compiled into a toolkit with nationwide dissemination to the ASTHO membership as well as other state and local public health agencies and associations so they can learn about promising practices and work to implement similar strategies with the potential to make a large public health impact.

The toolkit was distributed in June 2017 and is posted on the ASTHO website at www.astho.org.
