SPRING was dedicated to strengthening global and country efforts to scale up high-impact nutrition practices and policies. SPRING provided state-of-the-art technical support focused on preventing stunting and maternal and child anemia in the first 1,000 days, linking agriculture and nutrition, and creating social change and behavior change through communication. SPRING’s mission supported two major U.S. Government initiatives: Ending Preventable Child and Maternal Deaths and Feed the Future.
SPRING was a leader in the field of global nutrition, contributing to the existing evidence base and managing knowledge that improves nutrition outcomes through research, analysis, and information sharing.
SPRING also provided country-specific support to strengthen national nutrition programs and improve nutritional outcomes at the country level. Working with the USAID’s mission and government entities, SPRING supported direct implementation or provision of technical assistance to build capacity and catalyze partnerships at the national, district, and community levels.
SPRING also supported the implementation of USAID’s Multisectoral Nutrition Strategy, provided technical assistance to the U.S. Feed the Future initiative, and contributed to USAID’s goal of ending preventable child and maternal deaths.
The Strengthening Partnerships, Results, and Innovations in Nutrition Globally (SPRING) Project was a seven-year USAID-funded Cooperative Agreement to strengthen global and country efforts to scale up high-impact nutrition practices and policies and improve maternal and child nutrition. The project was managed by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc., with partners Helen Keller International, the Manoff Group, Save the Children, and the International Food Policy Research Institute.
