ITSU works in close collaboration with immunization partners in accelerating progress toward full immunization coverage.
ITSU supports the government in conducting comprehensive reviews for the Universal Immunization Program (UIP) and special immunization campaigns, roll-out, and expansion of new vaccines, develop operational guidelines and technical reports for decision-making. Being a national-level data custodian, a myriad of immunization data sources is utilized by ITSU to identify critical issues to share recommendations to UIP. The Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) Secretariat at ITSU supports the ministry in strengthening India's vaccine safety surveillance system through the development of guidelines for various aspects of AEFI surveillance and to improve vaccine safety and enhance vaccine confidence.
ITSU through Health Systems Strengthening vertical anchors the Gavi Secretariat in India and the current priority is driving the country’s Zero-dose Implementation Plan in select states. ITSU lends Strategic Communication support through demand-generation campaigns to promote RI among vulnerable and marginalized communities. ITSU also publishes relevant studies focusing on emerging priorities and key drivers of the UIP, ensuring that the program remains responsive to current and future immunization needs and innovation.
