SUMMARY

More than 40 countries have developed field epidemiology trainings to improve the knowledge, skills, and competencies of health officials responsible for disease surveillance and response systems. The trainings also build capacity at the national, provincial, and district levels to more rapidly identify and respond to disease outbreaks and epidemics and improve prevention and control.

John Snow, Inc. and SciMetrika, LLC have been awarded a two-year technical assistance contract to work with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide instructional design, technical input, and information technology expertise to improve the quality of and access to a library of educational and training resources for Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs).

Through the project, JSI and SciMetricka will evaluate, upgrade, and standardize the existing CDC library of training materials for the public health workforce at all levels.
