SUMMARY

We will provide comprehensive evaluation services per the needs of the Health Promotion Disease Prevention programs. Using a participatory and utilization-focused approach, JSI aids programs in evaluation planning, implementation, analysis, and dissemination and use of findings. We will work with the Asthma Program, Comprehensive Cancer Control Program, 1305/Diabetes Program, SNAP-Ed Program, Tobacco Control Program, and 1815 Program to plan, design, and implement formative, process, and outcome evaluations to inform program quality improvement and demonstrate reach and impact of program strategies.

Evaluation Project Spotlight
In 2017, JSI planned and performed an independent outcome evaluation to assess the impact of the Vermont Tobacco Control Program’s youth prevention social marketing campaign, Down and Dirty. An online survey was developed to evaluate tobacco use and campaign awareness among a large sample of Vermont youth aged 13-19 years, with particular emphasis on the “country” teen peer crowd. We created a social media strategy to recruit Vermont teens to take the survey. Digital promotion comprised of a variety of Facebook and Instagram ads designed to target “country” teens in Vermont. Findings from the evaluation were used to inform the Vermont Tobacco Control Program's decision making on future youth prevention communication strategies.
