AIDSFree Lesotho End of Project Summary

This End of Project Summary presents The Strengthening High Impact Interventions for an AIDS-free Generation (AIDSFree) Project’s programmatic achievements in Lesotho from October 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019.

In Lesotho, AIDSFree supported the Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) Partnership to reach adolescent girls aged 9–19 and young women aged 20–24 with evidence-informed interventions in Maseru and Berea districts. AIDSFree activities in Lesotho included the dissemination of HIV prevention messaging and condom distribution to empower adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and to reduce their vulnerability to gender-based violence (GBV) and HIV infection. AIDSFree mobilized communities to support and protect AGYW through strengthened school-based education—linked with community education by trained agents—aimed at preventing GBV and HIV, and facilitating post-violence referrals to services. This report was compiled by JSI in 2020.
