TIFA Accelerator Series | Bridging the Gap: Bringing TB Services to Homeless and Migrant Populations in India

Addressing the complex challenges of tuberculosis (TB) service delivery, particularly among urban migrants and homeless populations, is crucial if India is to eliminate TB. To reach these populations, India’s National TB Elimination Programme engaged the TB Implementation Framework Agreement (TIFA) project to fund Humana People to People India (HPPI) in implementing the Leveraging, Engaging, and Advocating to Disrupt TB Transmission (LEAD) project. This TIFA Accelerator Series story highlights HPPI's strategies, such as mapping high-risk areas, recruiting and training community health workers, and conducting door-to-door screenings to identify and treat TB cases. It also spotlights Rohit's journey from a TB survivor to an HPPI educator and exemplifies the impact of the LEAD project, which aims to enhance early detection, improve treatment adherence, and reduce transmission among India's most at-risk communities.
