In an effort to address the lack of capacity to treat opioid use disorders (OUDs), JSI on behalf of the NH Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services (BDAS) convened a panel of practitioners including healthcare, behavioral health and specialty SUD treatment service providers to review existing medication assisted treatment (MAT) models in New Hampshire and other states and to identify key components and best practices to develop this compendium of recommendations and resources for implementing and delivering MAT. This compilation of best practice recommendations and resources was developed to provide guidance to initiate and expand MAT programs for OUD for patient populations in a variety of service settings. The second edition of this document includes updated content on treatment planning, drug testing, and confidentiality, a reference list of current and relevant literature, a new planning tool to assess MAT development and implementation, a new section on inducting patients onto buprenorphine and an updated list of resources.
