As immunization programs expand with the introduction of new vaccines and technologies, the role of the supply chain and cold chain equipment to ensure the quality and availability of vaccines when and where they are needed has become even more critical. Conducting cold chain maintenance is important to ensure the performance of the cold chain equipment; this usually refers to both preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance. In order to identify challenges with the Tanzania cold chain equipment maintenance system and create potential effective solutions, JSI and partners collaborated with the Ministry of Health and the Immunization and Vaccine Development (IVD) program for a human-centered design (HCD) project. The goal was to gain insights and a deep understanding of the intricacies of Tanzania’s cold chain maintenance system, as perceived by diverse stakeholders.
