A new book, The Palgrave Handbook of Global Health Data Methods for Policy and Practice, was published recently and contains a chapter written by JSI staff member Theo Lippeveld. Chapter 9, “Health Management Information Systems: Backbone of the Health System,” describes how routine data can inform and improve health service, as it did for the United Kingdom. Lippeveld outlines emerging ways to transform health information systems, including new technologies that can strengthen health system performance monitoring.
