With decades of experience working with local partners in high-prevalence settings, JSI strengthens TB service delivery and management systems by supporting governments, expanding community roles, and enhancing program quality through infrastructure development, workforce training, and robust health information systems.
At the 2024 Union World Conference on Lung Health, we are joining the conversation with health leaders, policymakers, and advocates from around the world. From Insights to Action: Bolstering National TB Programmes and Results Through Improved Data and Information Systems

Robust and efficient TB health information systems that produce and use high-quality data—essential for responsive and person-centered care—aid informed decision-making and advance TB elimination goals. This session will feature experiences from national TB programs in Pakistan, Indonesia, and Zimbabwe, as well as an assessment tool applied across multiple African and Asian countries, demonstrating the positive effects of tailored investments in data systems to enhance national and subnational decision-making, with lessons applicable to other countries.
Strengthening Capacity for TB Services: Institutionalising an Education and Training Unit at the National Tuberculosis Control Program in Bangladesh

Jafor Saleh, program lead with the USAID-funded and JSI-led TB Implementation Framework Agreement (TIFA) project in Bangladesh, will present on the creation of an Education and Training Unit (ETU) within Bangladesh’s National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP) to address critical gaps in TB care. With funding from a TIFA grant, the ETU developed a standardized TB training curriculum for medical professionals and implemented a training management information system to track participation and training coverage. These initiatives are central to strengthening TB services and advancing NTP’s goal of eliminating TB in Bangladesh.
Cross-Border Collaboration on TB Services: Adapting Advocacy and Sustainability Approaches for Improved Management and Long-Term Collaboration

Lethia Bernard, senior health financing and advocacy advisor for the USAID-funded and JSI-led Tuberculosis Implementation Framework Agreement (TIFA) project, will present on a unique collaboration between Kenya and Uganda to address cross-border tuberculosis (TB) challenges, led by the national TB programs in Kenya and Uganda, as well as the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the Centre for Health Solutions. IGAD is coordinating these partners to work together to develop a shared sustainability and advocacy strategy to advance cross-border TB priorities during TIFA grant funding and beyond. This initiative focuses on aligning policies, fostering long-term collaboration, and securing funding to improve TB diagnosis, treatment, and management across the two countries.
