JSI and UNFPA Announce New Inter-Agency Reproductive Health Kits Forecasting Tool
April 4th, 2020 | news
The Country Inter-Agency Reproductive Health (IARH) Kits Forecasting Tool is an Excel-based planning tool for country-level forecasting of IARH kits that was developed by UNFPA and JSI with input from many country programs and humanitarian NGOs. It estimates the number of IARH kits needed for the acute phase (first three months) of a humanitarian crisis and up to a maximum of nine months.
Adjustments can be made for a longer acute phase if service or logistics data is available (up to nine months only to encourage requests for individual sexual and reproductive health supplies — rather than kits — during sustained situations). The tool also provides an advocacy dashboard to help mobilize resources for services and supplies during an emergency.
This tool can help maintain continuity of sexual reproductive health and family planning supply chains in emergencies, like the current COVID-19 outbreak, by helping users estimate the amount of product they need to maintain essential preventative, promotive, and curative sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services in fragile and humanitarian settings.
